Jacarandas surround the dog park in central Buenos Aires. Two things Buenos Aires has a lot of is dogs and jacaranda trees!

Is the Jacaranda tree native to Argentina? Yes it is a South American native from highland Brazil and Northern Argentina.

The trunk of the Arrayan tree, located at the very end of the Peninsula de Quetrihué in National Park Los Arrayanes.

Definitely an Orchid, the Orquidea Porcelana. It is very beautiful and hides in the tussock. Torres Del Paine, Chile.

Hiding from rain under a familiar Nothofagus tree. They have three types in Patagonia, two of which are deciduous. TDP, Chile.

The Codonorchis Lessonii (common name in spanish is Azucena del Bosque which mean Lily of the Forest) is a common in the undergrowth under the beech trees. Unfortunately this photo came out a bit blurry - the digital is terrible at focusing when in macro! TDP.

Phil surrounded by flowers on our walk in TDP, Chile.

Mosses and low shrubs on the rocks, didn´t get these names unfotunately. There are two shrubs with berries, one dark red and the other more of a pink. One of these berries gets made into a jam which is very nice but I never worked out which one it was. TDP but seen throughout Patagonia.

The Embothrium Coccineum (Fire Bush) was flowering wonderfully all over Patagonia and made a great foreground to several photos.

Escallonia Rubia

Another lovely flowering shrub in TDP - I think it is called Berbis Ilicifolia.

Calceolaria Uniflora (Ladies slipper) was not very common at all, I thought it was an orchid but the name suggests not. TDP.

Cool lichen crawling over the granite rock of TDP.

I only know that the common name for this flower is 'The waterfall flower' which seems pretty apt.

At the end of our TDP walk we were greeted by paddocks of nodding daisies.

I love daisies!

Sphagnum moss in the rather soggy Tierra Del Fuego National Park near Ushuaia.

Beautiful coloured dry fern undergrowth in Tierra Del Fuego National Park.

Now this is what I called a seriously windy place! Stands of hardy nothofagus trees along the Beagle Channel in Tierra Del Fuego.

More daisy fields at a very southern estancia near the Beagle Channel.
